If you follow me on The Twitter (@MaFt) then I apologise as you’ve probably read all this anyway but I thought I’d share the amusing tale of two people who kept me entertained for nearly an hour this evening. The following is a copy & paste of my live-tweeting earlier this evening.

7.54pm

They’re not getting very far with this kite. One’s taking photos, the other looks to be untying knots.

8.08pm
There’s a massive knot in the middle. I can see it from 100m away. Taller guy is sorting that one. Shorter guy not very helpful.

8.09pm
There, I’ve created a hash tag for my running commentary. Feel free to block it 🙂 #KiteGuys

8.10pm
Ooh. Shorter guy (I shall call him Simon) is now working on another massive knot. Me thinks they should have prepared better.

8.11pm
If they’d put it away properly the last time they played instead of rushing home for tea then they could have been ready by now.

8.14pm
I’ve cooked home made sausage rolls in the time it’s taken Simon and the taller guy (Timothy) to not manage to untie knots.

8.15pm
Simon has run to the kite. Timothy is still un-knotting. Both are bent over.

8.16pm
They’ve now merged into one. I shall call the conglomerate ‘Simothy’.

Oh come on Simothy. How long does it take to get a kite up in the air?! My readers (if it’s even plural!) are getting bored!

8.19pm
If they don’t get the knots out then they ain’t flying nowhere! Plus they’ve parked in ‘my’ space!

8.21pm
For the visually aware, yes thats a power line behind them. But it’s about 400m further behind them. In a different field.

8.22pm
Simothy has separated back into Simon and Timothy. They’re still trying to untie the knots. It’s like watching Paint dry.

8.24pm
Nearly 20 minutes so far! My 6 and 5 year olds do better than this. Maybe I should take Mini-MaFt’s Spiderman kite out & show off?

And it’s down…

8.29pm
They’re checking they’re phones. I’ll be freaked out if they wave at me!

8.31pm
Simon has run to Timothy for a team talk. It’s now Simons turn to fly as Timothy picks up the kite.

8.32pm
Simon is a much better pilot than Timothy.

8.32pm
Although the fact that he had to run backwards 100m to keep it flying for 5 seconds proves its not windy enough for a kite.

8.36pm
Utterly hilarious! Turns out that ‘KiteGuys’ are @_yoitsro and @echoingsounds!!

8.36pm
They still suck pretty bad at flying kites though!!

8.37pm
Have invited them in for home made sausage rolls. I’ll still call them Timothy and Simon.

8.39pm
Simon is definitely the better pilot. While Timothy has resigned himself to the fact that he is the thrower-upperer now.

8.40pm
It’s not as fun now they’ve got it flying. And that it turns out ‘KiteGuys’ are actually 2 of my good mates!

And here they are in all their glory:
