Web Development

The internet isn’t just for websites… Here are a few of the web-based projects I’ve done that weren’t your normal website:

@NewOnAmzPrimeUK

February 2014
In February 2014 LOVEFIiLM rebranded to Amazon Prime Instant Streaming Video and, as such, I had to rebuild my LOVEFiLM service.

Technology & languages used: cURL, PHP, MySQL, OAuth, Twitter API (1.1), Facebook Graph API, OMDB API, Push.co API.

@NewOnLOVEFiLMUK

November 2013
During a podcast I was recording for The Media Show (now called The AirWaves) I glibly mentioned that I’d make a NewOnLOVEFiLMUK service similar to my Netflix one. So I did!

Technology & languages used: cURL, PHP, MySQL, OAuth, Twitter API (1.1), Facebook Graph API, OMDB API, Push.co API.

@NewOnNetflixUK

April 2013
The MaFt household are big Netflix users but one of the things that annoys me, and a number of other users, is the lack of an easy way to see what films and TV programmes have been added. This project aims to overcome that as a free service to UK Netflix viewers.

Technology & languages used: cURL, PHP, MySQL, OAuth, Twitter API (1.1), Facebook Graph API, OMDB API, Push.co API.

MaFt’s Music

March 2012
I listen to a lot of music and most of the time my listening ‘history’ is uploaded and logged at Last.fm. This project was designed to provide an almost live ‘Now Playing’ stream to let people know what tracks I’m listening to at any time.

Technology & languages used: cURL, PHP, MySQL, Last.fm API, XML, OAuth, Twitter API (1.1), bitly API.

iPhone Game – Web Backend

Ongoing
As a side-project I have been developing the web-based backend for an iPhone game that is still under development. This involves creating various server-side scripts to manage the online aspects of the game along with full documentation of the API to assist the programmers.

Technology & languages used: JSON, PHP, MySQL.
