I wasn’t very impressed with his maths though so I replied:

Your maths is terrible…

€100 per hour, 2-3 hours per week. Even if we assume the full 3 hours a week that’s €300 per week, multiplied by 4.33 weeks in a month takes us to €1300 per month. So where do you get you 2500 EUR a month that you quote?

I think this is a scam and you’re trying to rip me off.

Obviously the email wasn’t actually from my colleague, they just used his email address as the ‘from’ address to make it look a bit more normal. Seriously though, if they want to try and scam people they need to work on their maths – no sensible person would take them up on their offer until they get that sorted.

This was a great one – I got the caller so wound up he actually told me to f-off! Sadly my mobile got a call so the last minute or so wasn’t recorded. I paraphrased the missing audio though at the end of the video.

Other highlights were going through every letter on the keyboard until I found the ‘flag’ key he wanted me to press.

This was an early morning call and it caught me off guard. However I mumbled something about ‘having to do something’ (i.e. set the phone recording) and asked them to start again saying who they were. Throughout the call they couldn’t make up their mind what company they were calling from.

The highlight though was being asked if I had a false leg!

For info they called from: 004588632589 and the call quality was awful!

It’s been a few months since I had a computer scam call but today’s experience was something new. The caller was completely useless and it was clear they weren’t paying any attention to what I was saying and to what they were supposed to be doing… Maybe I should give them some credit though, it might have been their first day at work and I was being unduly hard on her?

Let me know what you think:

It’s been a while since I recorded a phone scammer but I had another one today. I missed the first 30 seconds or so as I was fumbling with my iPhone to find the SoundCloud app which it appears I’ve managed to delete. Or Mini-MaFt has deleted… So I quickly launched up the Voice Memo app and hit record.

The results of my entertaining call from 009806553210 are below. It’s just over 30 minutes long though, but I think it’s worth it. Especially if you want to know my clothes size and how ‘maximise’ has changed my letter-writing experience.

I like to think I’ve done a public service – keeping these guys from the rest of the world for 30 minutes may have saved someone from getting duped.

I managed to record a scam call today. I admit that it wasn’t my best work, I didn’t even get to tell them I was on a Mac and I know their tricks… But still, it was a first attempt and I think I was concentrating more on getting it recorded than actually dealing with them.

I do like to think though that because of me wasting their time for 12 minutes it means one less person today will have been tricked. I provide a public service, don’t you know?!

Listen to it here:

I’ve not seen one like this before… They’re basically admitting to being scammers but because they only ask for $600 it is somehow OK…:

Dearest one,

My name is Mrs. Mary Susan Derrick. I am an US citizen,  I am one of those that
were scammed by Nigerian scam artist 4 years ago and i received a compensation
notification from the Joakin compensation house earlier last month for the sum
of $1.5M but i felt it was all the same group of scammers because i have paid
over $36,000 trying to get my payment all to no avail.

So I decided to travel down to Nigeria with all my compensation documents, And I
was directed to meet Rev Dr Garry Davies, who is the member of COMPENSATION
AWARD COMMITTEE, and I contacted him and he explained everything to me. He said
whoever is contacting us through emails are fake.

He took me to the paying bank for the claim of my Compensation payment.Right now
I am the most happiest woman on  earth because I have received my compensation
funds of $1,500,000.00 Moreover, Rev Dr Garry Davies, showed me the full
information of those that are yet to receive their payments and I saw you as one
of the beneficiaries, and your email address, names and address and also your
telephone number that is why I decided to email you to stop dealing with those
people, they are not with your fund, they are only making money out of you. I
will advise you to contact Rev Dr Garry Davies. You have to contact him directly
on this information below.

Name : Rev Dr Garry Davies
Phone: +234-7094484709

You really have to stop dealing with those people that are contacting you and
telling you that your fund is with them, it is not in anyway with them, they are
only taking advantage of  you and they will dry you up until you have nothing.

The only money I paid after I met Rev Dr Garry Davies was just $600 for the
paper works, take note of that.

Once again stop contacting those people, I will  advise you to contact Rev Dr
Garry Davies so that he can help you to Deliver your fund instead of you dealing
with those liars that will be turning you around asking for different kind of
money to complete your transaction.

Note: Without the office of Rev Dr Garry Davies you will never receive your
payment, contact him he will let you know the situation of things those who
scammed you because he told me those who scammed me but no where to get them. He
knows about the people you are dealing with right now, but he will give you more
information’s upon your contact with him.

Thank You and Be Blessed.
Mrs. Mary Susan Derrick
